2025 NHSA AWARDS

Submit your Award nominations for the 21st  Annual Conference. We encourage everyone to send in their nominations promptly. Winners for the awards will be announced at the 22nd Anniversary of the conference during the Gala. See the below categories.

NHSA AWARDS

National Leadership Award

Will be awarded to the student who has demonstrated personal and professional growth as an emerging leader through his/her actions and character.

President of the Year Award

This award will be presented to a current HSO President who has displayed superior leadership, organizational, and empowerment skills.

The Marie-Claire Heureuse Felicite

This award will be presented to the student who best represents those qualities of ethic and altruism, exemplified by Marie-Claire Heureuse Felicite.

Most Active State Board

This award will be presented to the most active state board in the nation based on their commitment to the student movement and the HSA/HSO in their state.

Organization of the Year

This award will be presented to the HSO that puts forth outstanding effort in all areas in relation to its purpose including contributions to the college/university, to NHSA, the community, and the development of its members.

Felix Morisseau-Leroy

This award will be presented to an organization or a student who best personifies a commitment to unifying the Haitian Diaspora around their heritage while promoting its value to others, much in the way Felix Morisseau-Leroy sought to reserve centuries of devaluation and upheld the dignity of culture in Haiti, Ghana, and Senegal.

2025 SCHOLARSHIP

A NHSA Scholar is a student of Haitian decent that has shown scholastic achievement, leadership development, and community engagement with a passion for the betterment of Haiti.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for the NHSA Scholar Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

​

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in an accredited four-year college/university

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater

  • Haitian descent

  • Finalist must be available for interviews

  • Must be able to attend the NHSA Awards Gala

  • Complete application with all requirements via NHSA website:

  • Essay #1 Attach a short essay in 600 words or less, please tell us about yourself and why you are applying for this scholarship. Please be clear about how this scholarship will help you achieve your personal and professional goals

  • Essay #2 Attach a short essay (maximum 600 words) The Economic and Political Climate of the Haitian Culture and as young leader’s initiatives we can start for the advancement of Haiti.

  • 2 Letters of Recommendations: (1) school and (1) employment or personal Students must submit their application filled out completely with all of the information requested.

  • If any information is incomplete, the application will not be considered. Scholarships will be awarded at the NHSA the 22nd Annual Awards Gala. Students selected are required to attend the gala to receive their Scholarship Award.
